PC Games Reviews King’s Bounty

One of the leading Russian specialized magazines, PC Games, has published a cover story review on King’s Bounty: The Legend. The game scored 9.5 out of 10, received the Editor's Choice Award and was characterized as "a fabulous, heartfelt, high-grade project… Probably the game of the highest quality that ever came from Russia". "Special effects are splendid: every time your character casts a new spell on the battlefield that is simply amazing!"- adds the author. You can find the inside of the review (in Russian) here.

4x4: Hummer Became the Best Simulation Game at Gameland Award 2008

4x4: Hummer has been chosen as the Best Simulation Game at Gameland Award 2008 that was held in Russia, Moscow on April, 19. All the awards in this ceremony are based upon the people’s choice. 4x4 Hummer is an off road driving simulation where players can test drive a range of General Motors’ sports utility vehicles (SUV’s) across challenging and exciting locations including the Grand Canyon, Crimea, Egypt, Iceland and many more.

Majesty 2: First Details

First details from Majesty 2, the game that is being produced by 1C and developed by 1C’s internal studio 1C:Ino-Co, are published on Gamespot. The interview uncovers the importance of keeping of the original Majesty’s atmosphere, the biggest and most important enhancements of Majesty 2 and other aspects of managing the kingdom full of unique characters. King’s Bounty scores 9.5 on CRPG

King’s Bounty scored 9.5 out of 10 in a review published on «The player finds himself immersed into the atmosphere of the game from the very beginning. King’s Bounty wins 4 awards at KRI 2008!

The adventure saga King's Bounty: The Legend – the highly-anticipated new game from Katauri Interactive and 1C Company became the absolute winner at the Awards Ceremony during KRI 2008 (Russian Game Developer's Conference) that was held in Moscow on April 18-20. The game has won the following prizes: KRI 2008: Best game, KRI 2008: Best role-playing game, KRI 2008: Best game design, KRI 2008: Audience choice award. Majesty 2 – The Fantasy Kingdom Sim Announced

1C Company's internal studio 1C:Ino-Co, the developers of renowned Fantasy Wars, is now working on a Majesty sequel which is scheduled for release next year. Majesty 2 – The Fantasy Kingdom Sim will focus on reinventing many aspects of the original game while bringing the brand into the 21st Century. A key element that will permeate the game is the charming atmosphere and sense of humor of the original Majesty.

"It’s the height of any developers dream to work with such a cherished AAA product with so many fans worldwide and such a unique position in the gaming industry", said Alexey Kozyrev, CEO 1C:Ino-Co. "As a team we have reached the level of skills and acknowledgement on the international arena to be worthy of such a task." Majesty 2 – The Fantasy Kindom Sim is scheduled for release during Q1 2009 for the PC platform. Confirmation of other platforms will be announced at a later stage. The game will be published by Paradox Interactive. Majesty the game has sold millions of copies worldwide and made true believers out of a whole generation of RTS gamers. Paradox Interactive and 1C:Ino-Co studios are now teaming up for the sequel in this beloved series.

UFO: Afterlight patch 1.6

The first UFO: Afterlight patch created outside of ALTAR is now available for download. It fixes a number of bugs and removes the copy protection.

ALTAR Games is busy working on their next project and plan no further updates for UFO: Afterlight. They wish for the game to expand however, and have therefore given the source-code to a few dedicated fans. Petteri “PetteriB” Bamberg will maintain the UFO: Afterlight source-code in the time to come with help from Jason "Kret" Rodrigo and Stuart “Stucuk” Carey.

As his first contribution to the community, Petteri has completed patch 1.6 for UFO: Afterlight. This patch includes lots of bug-fixes that fans of the game wished for, and removes the copy-protection! That’s right; developer ALTAR and publisher 1C Company has agreed to remove the DVD check from the retail version of the game! You can read more about the updates to the game in the official forum.

In the time to come Petteri will provide fans with a modification manager, more bug-fixes as well as new features to the game. Your help is needed however. If you know of an annoying bug that wasn’t fixed with the first patch, let them know. If you would like features added or balance changed, tell them why. If you can assist with modeling, texturing, scripting, testing or similar tasks, enlist now!

New Mod for Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45

The Carpathian Crosses team are releasing the Beta version of their new mod for Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45. This mod brings the next new nationality to the game - the Romanians, who provided the single largest contingent of Axis troops on the Eastern Front, after the Germans themselves. The player will get to experience a completely unique setting, that has never been done before! On top of that, they are also adding the famous Russian Black Sea Naval Infantry - the "Black Death". The mod features new maps, new models, new vehicles and weapons including the first playable mortars and you can download it here.

New details of Men of War

Digitalmindsoft, the co-developers of Men of War, made a detailed description of new game features including aiming system, the mode of displaying units and choosing an advantage-position for soldiers.
